ANVISA, the National Health Surveillance Agency, is linked to the Ministry of Health and is responsible for approving products and services submitted to the Sanitary Surveillance for industry and commerce.

Establishments and equipment of health interest, classified according to the risk of their activities, should request their registration in the Health Surveillance, before starting their activities, for their establishments and equipment of health interest: pesticides, food, cosmetics, sanitary, ports, airports and borders, vessels, pharmacies and drugstores, pharmaceutical supplies, medicines, health products, tobacco, blood, tissues and organs.

These establishments must communicate to the Sanitary Surveillance any changes related to their activity, such as address, legal responsibility, equipment, number of beds, company name, assumption and reduction of technical responsibility and change of activity.
